Tata Aeris Compact Sedan Launched In India At Rs. 5.30 Lakh

Tata Motors upgrades its sub-4 metre sedan, the Tigor, with a comprehensive redesign, enhanced comfort, convenience, and safety, and a new name

Tata Motors has launched the facelifted version of the Tigor with a new name – Aeris. Prices of the new sub-4 metre sedan starts at Rs. 5.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs. 9.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Aeris has been designed with changes similar to those of the new Tata Tiago. The latest sub-4 metre sedan has a more modern and cleaner front fascia. The sleek design of the new LED headlamps and the faux gloss black grille between them give the car a sleek look.

The more muscular front bumper with prominent C-shaped corners and the more symmetrically designed lower air intake lend the car a wide, planted stance. The front fog lamps are also new and feature LED lighting. On the sides, Tata Motors has introduced new 15-inch two-tone alloy wheels and SUV-inspired black wheel arch cladding featuring a Cosmo Grain texture.

At the rear, there’s a redesigned boot lid that does away with the registration plate area, adopts a full-width concave surface, and integrates a more strongly sculpted spoiler. The new bumper with prominent C-shaped outer ends incorporates the registration plate and the reverse light right below it in the center, along with vertical light reflectors on the flanks. New LED tail lights have a slimmer and more technical-looking design, and extend far more inward compared to those of the Tigor.

The interior of the Tata Aeris has a more contemporary design and incorporates a textured trim on the dashboard and door panels. The dashboard does away with the Tigor’s bulky and rounded design, adopting a slimmer and relatively angular design.

A revised two-spoke steering wheel, straight door armrests with new switches, a 5-inch digital instrument cluster positioned on the dashboard and without a traditional binnacle, ventilated front seats, a dual smartphone deck with a wireless charger, and 65-watt USB Type-C charging ports are also among the key changes inside.

Tata Motors says it has enhanced rear impact protection for improved safety. The company has also introduced a segment-first blind spot monitor and a dashcam. There are no changes with respect to the engine or transmission. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine is standard, and it can be specified in a petrol or petrol-CNG version.

This engine produces 85 hp and 113 Nm of torque running on petrol and 74.5 hp and 96.5 Nm of torque running on CNG. Both versions are available with 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission options. Tata Motors has not revealed the fuel economy figures of the Aeris.
