Hyundai’s third-generation Creta is expected to arrive in India next year with a boxier design, a completely redesigned cabin, more technology and a new strong-hybrid powertrain
The Hyundai Creta is set for its biggest change yet. Hyundai has confirmed that a next-generation Creta will come to India in 2027, and test vehicles have already been spotted on multiple occasions. Unlike the current model’s facelift-led evolution, the new SUV is expected to bring a substantially different design, a new platform and a heavily revised cabin.
The test mules point towards a significant departure from the current Creta’s rounded styling. The next-generation SUV appears more upright and boxier, with a flatter bonnet, squarer glasshouse and a wider-looking stance. The front is expected to feature a more upright nose with split lighting, while the rear could get new LED tail-lamps and a redesigned tailgate. Spy shots also indicate larger wheels and shorter overhangs.
The next Creta is expected to shift to Hyundai-Kia’s K3 platform, which also underpins the new-generation Kia Seltos. The newer architecture should allow Hyundai to improve structural rigidity and cabin packaging while potentially increasing interior and boot space. This will also give Hyundai greater flexibility with electrified powertrains. The exact India-spec dimensions and platform specifications have not yet been confirmed by Hyundai.

The most important mechanical addition will be the expected strong-hybrid powertrain. Hyundai is likely to combine the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor and battery pack. The current petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engines are also expected to continue, although Hyundai has not yet officially confirmed the final engine line-up or specifications for India.
The hybrid Creta would put Hyundai into direct competition with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and upcoming hybrid versions of rivals such as the Kia Seltos. The cabin is expected to receive a much more comprehensive makeover. Spy reports point towards a new dashboard and curved screen setup, while Hyundai’s newer Pleos Connect infotainment system is also expected to make its India debut on the Creta.
The feature list could expand considerably as well. Expected additions include improved connected-car technology, an upgraded ADAS package and more advanced safety features. Some test vehicles have also been reported with Boss Mode for the front passenger, along with upgraded rear-seat comfort.
Hyundai has confirmed the next-generation Creta for India, while reports currently point towards a 2027 launch, with the second half of the year being one possibility. The exact launch date has not been announced.
