Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler To Be Launched By April 2027

Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler pickup truck to be launched in India and then also exported to markets in Africa and Oceania

The Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler, the production version of the Mahindra Global Pik Up Vision introduced in 2023, is coming to Indian showrooms by April 2027. Designed in Mumbai and developed in Chennai, the all-new pickup truck will serve as the successor to the Mahindra Scorpio Getaway, which exited the domestic market in 2019.

Popularity of pickup trucks in India has grown significantly since the Scorpio Getaway exited the market, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, and is driven more by lifestyle preferences than work requirements. With the growing interest in road trips and experiential tourism, Mahindra sees a much stronger potential for the Scorpio Lifestyler.

Mahindra has developed the Scorpio Lifestyler on the same body-on-frame platform that underpins the Scorpio-N. The proportions and exterior design, especially at the front, clearly give away the fact that it’s a pickup truck derived from this SUV. The interior is quite different, though, with the main difference being a portrait central touchscreen.

Mahindra Lifestyler Valley Edition

The Scorpio Lifestyler is likely to be a much longer vehicle, with an extended wheelbase and rear overhang. The wheelbase should be over 3,000 mm, and the overall length should be over 5,000 mm. For reference, the Scorpio-N is 4,662 mm long and has a 2,750-mm wheelbase. Mahindra has developed it in three styles: Trail Edition, Reef Edition, and Valley Edition,

The Trail Edition, featuring Sahara Beige paint, has been designed keeping in mind customers who intend to use it for overlanding. Mahindra showcased it with a snorkel, a roof rack, a roof light bar, and individual side steps. The Reef Edition will serve customers into surfing and other adventure sports. Mahindra showcased it with a snorkel and crossbars. The Valley Edition is designed to feel at home in hilly areas, such as coffee and tea plantations. It is the simplest of the three styles, designed for everyday utility and carrying loads in the cargo bed.

The Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler will likely be available with 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engines, both with a choice of 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Mahindra may offer a part-time 4×4 system only in the higher configurations, ensuring affordability for the lower-end configurations targeted at customers who need the pickup truck for everyday work in non-demanding driving conditions.
