Tata Motors’ closest homegrown rival likely to bring two ICE and two pure electric models to Indian showrooms next year
At its analyst & press meet held in May 2026, Mahindra announced plans to launch 10 ICE and 6 electric models by FY2031 (April 2030-March 2031). The company has already launched several new models since then, including the Thar OG, the new Scorpio N, and the XUV 3XO ZNG. In 2027, the company will likely introduce four new models in showrooms.
In early 2027, Mahindra will likely launch a new compact SUV positioned between the XUV 3XO and Thar OG. Derived from the Vision.S concept, this model will debut the company’s NU_IQ monocoque platform, which supports ICE, hybrid, and pure electric applications. It will feature a squarish exterior and a high ground clearance, which will give it an authentic SUV character.
Inside, the upcoming compact SUV should feature a contemporary design that emphasises comfort and practicality, with ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless smartphone charger, and a digital instrument cluster. Mahindra will likely offer it with 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options and 6-speed manual and automatic transmission choices at launch.

By April, Mahindra will start sales of the Scorpio Lifestyler, the new pickup truck derived from the Scorpio-N. The company has confirmed that the base configuration of this model will be under Rs. 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It is likely to offer the new pickup truck with a choice of 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engines and 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. A part-time 4×4 system should be available in select configurations.
In mid-2027, Mahindra will likely launch the production version of the BE.07 concept. Expected to be approximately 4.6 metres long, 1.9 metres wide, and 1.7 metres tall, this model will be its direct rival to the Tata Harrier.ev. Its battery packs, powertrains, and features will likely be shared with the XEV 9S. We expect it to have a range of over 650 kilometres.

In late 2027, Mahindra will likely launch a pure electric alternative to the Thar Roxx. Also based on the NU_IQ platform, this model will be the production version of the Vision.T concept. Unlike the Born Electric EVs based on the INGLO platform, this model should be available not only in single-motor 2WD but also in dual-motor AWD configurations.
